This is another one of those shows I wish I had time to catch. Hot on the heels of Golden Globe nominations, Showtime has given a second season of Weeds a go. Hm, maybe I should make this a double-post and ask you to convince me I should be watching this show (over others shows I watch). Weeds renewed for second season

Not to offer a cheap plug, but I've already written about this here:
http://begonias.typepad.com/srubio/2005/10/weeds_season_fi.html
So I'll cut-and-paste a bit:
Weeds is the best series I've ever seen on Showtime.
Weeds is what Desperate Housewives only thinks it is: a smart "dramedy" about suburban women. Actually, I can't stand that word "dramedy," but Weeds is one, and it's so much better than Desperate Housewives at blending the funny and the sad, it isn't even close. Both series feature farcical scenes and unbelievable plot turns, but in Weeds, those aspects are not the beginning and end of the show. There is actual growth to Parker's character ... she is not the same person at the end of the season as she was at the beginning, and the audience has come a long way, as well, in our understanding of her life and the lives of her family and friends.

While this has nothing to do with Weeds, I just saw The Office and My Name is Earl is moving to Thursday on January 5. Keith you all NEED to post about that, because i don't think thats going to work at all, and is that the start of both shows descent?

This show isnt very well written (and frequently overacted), and the plot isnt interesting at all.
Which is really too bad, because I like pot, and I love Mary-Louise Parker's eyes.

ML Parker is great and touching in her role of a widow trying to make ends meets while selling pot, while kevin nealon il damn funny. There are some clever lines, and the overall writing does it for me.

I thought Seth was totally wrong. The show's written very well. There's a difference between liking a show and it being of poor quality. Like Arrested Development. I acknowledge that it was a very well written show and very well acted, but I still didn't like it.
Weeds, really well written, great cast and oh man Elizabeth Perkins is just awesome in this show as is Mary-Louise Parker. I'm glad Showtime wised up and renewed it for a second season.
It's definitely worth a watch. It's one of those shows that's quirky and funny and sad and everything in between. Also, Allison Janney guest starring as the insanely funny lawyer... well, that alone makes it worth a watch.

Showtime is not afraid to take risks. There seems to be a committment to bringing awareness to the diversity of our world/community that gets passed over at times in other venues.Well written and acted, a refreshing piece..thank you.

Thanks to Showtime for the renewal, now how about picking up HBO's cancelled "The Comeback"?
btw, has there ever been a show that started on one premium channel and moved to another? I can't think of one.
