Did anyone else see the preview for NBC's new mid-season replacement show The Book of Daniel? It aired after The West Wing last night, and I gotta say, I'm intrigued. It looks like it could turn out to be a buddy show, only with Jesus as one of the buddies.
That's right, Jesus.
Or maybe it's Highway to Heaven, only instead of Michael Landon doing God's work, we have Jesus doing it! It actually looks a lot like Desperate Housewives - lots of houses shown, with various people having sex and/or hiding secrets - but the main character is guided by Jesus, who rides around in the car with him. It's either going to be awful or so wacky and controversial that it actually works. It debuts in January and stars Aiden Quinn, Ellen Burstyn, and Dylan Baker.

It also has Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbess on Sex and the City - and I've never seen her in anything bad. I had the same reaction - either it's going to be great, or extremely awkward.

Depending on how it is written, this could be one of the most interesting shows to come along in awhile. A little like Joan of Arcadia, but darker and more sexy.

Sounds interesting, unfortunately the only thing I could think of the whole time I was reading this was Jon Stewart's joke about the sequel to Narnia, the hip-hop inspired "Get Rich Off Christ Dyin'"

From the commercial, I have to wonder if it was partially inspired by the last season of Rescue Me, where Jesus is constantly hanging out it his car and asking for a sandwich.

I've seen the first episode, and it falls into the former: awful...unbelievably awful.

Interesting. Although I think I will prefer the Jesus of *Rescue Me*...
