Alias: Bob

David Anders - AliasFirst off, let me say that whoever came up with the title for this episode is a genius. Seriously. There's an elegance about it, but at the same time it's really manly, strong and confident. It's quite possibly one of the best TV episode titles I've seen in years.

It's great to see Sark (David Anders) back. When a show gets rid of a cast member (Michael Vartan), it's great when the show gets another favorite character on to fill in the gap, even if it's only temporary.

Rachel goes undercover to a convention to intercept the transfer of some vital information concerning a rather nasty device that releases a pulse that doesn't harm the surrounding area but turns people into crispy critters. While she's there, she meets "Bob" and proceeds to have sex with him. Bob, of course, is actually Julian Sark! He's there to intercept the info too, only for the bad guys. (Funny idea to have the British Sark do an American accent, and the American Rachel do a British one.)

Jack and an old MI6 colleague go to the rendezvous point, where they are promptly captured. So now the bad guys have Jack and the MI6 agent and the weapon. Syd and the team make a deal with Sark to get the prisoners freed. Of course, the bad guys turn the tables on Sark, take the money, and tie Sark to the weapon. With Syd and Marshall's help, Rachel disarms the device.

Sark can't be arrested, but they want to pay him his money. Sark says he doesn't want it. "This one's a freebie," he says, and walks out.

Good episode: lots of espionage stuff, some witty banter, cool opening. Sure, the whole "oh, the seconds are ticking away and we have to disarm this weapon!" ending has been done a million times, and you know it's not going to go off, but the journey to get to that point was fun.

Quote (Rachel to Sark as she tries to disarm the weapon): "For the record, you approached me...you were the one who wanted to cuddle."
