If you were asked to describe the type of shows that FOX would be willing to take a gamble on, then you'd probably make a list describing programs that had an edgy storyline, with lots of action and plenty of sex. In essence, you'd be describing Skin, a real gem (I mean that sincerely, I loved this show) that FOX only gave three weeks before canning. A modern day retelling of "Romeo and Juliet," Skin placed two rival families (the Goldmans and the Roams) against each other using two topics known to create conflict: politics and pornography. Sounds like a winning combination to me. Ron Silver portrayed Larry Goldman, a porno kingpin who was trying to keep his industry afloat amidst attacks from District Attorney Tom Roam. So while the fathers are feuding, the children are undressing. DJ Roam and Jewel Goldman (played by Olivia Wilde, who you might remember as Marissa's brief lesbian fling in the last season of The OC) can't keep their hands off each other. As I mentioned, FOX dropped it after three episodes, poor reviews, and even worse ratings - but it was good stuff. Cheesy yes, but fun to get caught up in. The eight episodes that got made finally saw air-time when SOAPnet purchased the series earlier this year. Am I the only one who thinks porno, politics, and Ron Silver's beard were a bad combo?

They canned it after only airing THREE shows? I'm impressed. Something actually beat out Wonderfalls for short-lived FOX shows. (Wonderfalls only got four, plus one repeat, and I am STILL bitter...)
