Reunion: 1992

1992So by now, we've all heard the bad news. Never the less, we've still got some time left with our six dysfunctional friends, so we may as well enjoy the years while we still can. They've been through, how do I put this, "quite a bit" in their short amount of time that we've known them. This episode was a little different than the past ones; it took place all in one day. I actually really liked this approach, I don't think it would work for every episode, but it was a nice change of pace. On with the show!

As I said above, the entire episode took place during Thanksgiving of 1992, and while the episode played out during a single day, that doesn't mean they skimped on the drama. At the last minute, Aaron decides to bring Rachel, the secretary from his and Craig's business. Jenna shows up from Hollywood with her heart-throb husband in tow, and Will brings his new girlfriend Vanessa. Ah, but not all is as it seems, because Jenna's husband is much more interested in Will and Rachel has been seeing Craig. Throw in Craig's dad with a surprise visit, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

After a slow burn, Sam finally lets out that she's known about Craig and Rachel's affair for some time. Rachel leaves and Aaron verbally lays into Craig. Meanwhile, Will goes to console Sam, but Vanessa overhears it and realizes that Will is still in love with Sam. She tells Will to look her up when he gets over Sam. Only when Carla freaks out and storms out does everyone take a step back and look at themselves. They spend the rest of the day at peace and enjoying each other's company. How nice and neat.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I can fault Fox for canceling Reunion. It started off very strong and with a fantastic concept, but each episode seemed to get more and more absurd as they tried to fill every week with drama. I did enjoy seeing Detective Marjorino as a young man looking for vengeance, and I like how they're showing how his "quest" is destroying his life now, but it just wasn't enough for me. At the very least, I think that Fox should allow them time to wrap the story. I guess we'll see what they can fit into the last few episodes. Let me know what you think.

Shocks of the week:
Jenna's husband is gay!
Det. Marjorino tried to kill Will!
Craig CAN walk!
