I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only adult who is addicted to buying SpongeBob SquarePants crap. While all of my SpongeBob stuff is relegated to the upstairs bathroom, someone else found a much better use for his stuff. Larry Mantello, a NYC artist, created an art exhibit out of it and other bits of pop culture (although SpongeBob is the focus). It's called Tri-Sectional Resurrectional, and it's on display in the Kustera Tilton Gallery in Chelsea until Dec. 10. The exhibit is supposed to reflect race, sex, gender, and diverse cultures, but to the untrained eye (mine!) it looks like a lot of cool toys sewn together. The NY Times has an interactive photo of the Tri-Sectional Resurrectional that explains it better than I will ever be able to.SpongeBob art exhibit in NYC

Here at work I have created my latest masterpiece which is an introspective, bi-generational, cross-cultural look at life in our fast-paced society, our disposable modern culture and probably something to do with woman's suffrage. To the untrained eyes of the Philistines I work with though it just looks like a messy desk.
I hate them.

Hmmm, sex, gender, and diverse cultures eh? To my very untrained eye, it looks like there are three oddly shaped dildoes hanging to Spongebob's left. Nautical nonsense indeed...
