Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey team up for NBC sitcom

Tracy MorganReports are surfacing that Saturday Night Live alum Tracy Morgan will be starring in a new NBC comedy, to be written and executive produced by current SNL co-head writer Tina Fey. The part won't be all that much of a stretch for Morgan, who will be playing the star of a sketch-comedy show called "Friday Night Bits". Lorne Michaels will be an executive producer of the single-camera sitcom, along with Fey and two others.

Of course, this follows on the heels of NBC's announcement that The West Wing's Aaron Sorkin will be creating a hour-long show that takes a behind-the-scenes look at a sketch-comedy show that is eerily similar to SNL. But, since this show isn't being produced by Michaels, expect it to cast a bit more of a critical eye on the genre. Two SNL-related fictional shows, both aired by the network that also airs SNL. Huh. Makes you wonder if they're not happy with the actual show. Now why would I ever think of that?
