Did anyone else enjoy George's final comeuppance as much as I did? (Well, here's hoping it's final.) And does anyone else wonder if we'll ever get an explanation for why he was so unbalanced? I mean, we met his mom, and she didn't seem overwhelmingly terrible. You'd hope for a thoroughly awful mom to create a psycopath like George.
There are comeuppances that I don't really enjoy in this episode, as well. I don't adore Lynette's boss as a human being, but I love the spark her character brings, and I'll miss her. Of course, you could totally tell the actress who plays her was pregnant in this episode, her cleavage was ginormous - and having the anti-child maven become pregnant would hardly fit her characterization. Instead, she makes the mistake of not being nice. And for Lynette, that's the deathknell.
That deathknell ends up getting Nina fired. And here all along I thought the receptionist was gay. He's not (at least, not on the show), and he's caught sleeping with Nina while she's forcing everyone to work late - because the big boss, he of the mercurial temperament, decides he hates the team's pitch. Lynette threatens Nina to try to get her to be nice; Nina retaliates by firing the receptionist; Lynette fights back, telling him he could sue; and he sues. Ed, the big boss, settles, and that means he has to fire most everyone. Lynette's now in charge - will she ever see her kids again? Oh, the drah-ma.
OK, back to George and Bree. Was anyone else totally shocked that Bree's therapist lived? Here I was, calling George a serial murderer. Evidently he's only a murderer once, and attempted murderer. And, stupid. If this was Law & Order the evidence wouldn't have been so damned obvious. And, trusting. He thought Bree loved him enough to save him from death by pill. Too bad she got the info about George's role in Rex' murder... at exactly the wrong time. For George's life, anyway, which drains away as Bree sits primly by his side, not calling 911.
I downright adored the "she loves me, she loves me not..." pill-popping sequence. He's just so deliciously evil! I'll miss his wickedness. And as I noted above, I wonder what future episodes will reveal about him? It seems certain that more of his past will be uncovered - could Rex really be his first kill? He (attempted) dispatched the therapist with so little remorse. Surely more dastardly deeds lurk beneath his surface.
The final two plotlines weirded me out, a bit. Carlos is back at home, thanks to the Catholic Church's good works, and he's determined to be good. He prays at night and does his rosary. Gabrielle's certain not to take that, um, sitting down. She fights against the sweet white-suited nun (who's not, I think, as hot as Gabrielle finds her) with her best weapon: sex. The scene where she's luring Carlos into the bedroom while the nun waits in the dining room below is so awkward, it's almost painful. You'd think those poorly-played tempting tactics wouldn't really work on a man who'd slept with Gabrielle for years. But... they do. Something about Gabrielle fighting the church with her ass sits wrong with me.
And then there's Susan and her new dad, Mr. Purdy. Although I'm loving the backdrop of the feed store - many good lines to come, I predict - why did the writers have to go to the patently obvious route of having him hit on her before he found out she was his daughter? That sinks a little too deep into the soap opera storyline (well, I guess if it was really a soap opera, they would have had a love child together - no, twins - before discovering that they were father and daughter). Anyhow, the plot here seems awkward. Maybe it will even out in the next episodes.

It really bothered me when Brie took out the shotgun and blew that loudspeaker off the top of George's van. It's a typical Hollywood view of gun owners - they're willing to shoot anything, anytime. No right minded and intelligent gun owner (which Brie seems to be) would ever just whip out their gun and use it as a toy. She's not a maniac, but the show paints her as someone willing to pull out the ol' twelve gauge and start blasting away. Maybe I'm just reading something into the show that isn't there, but to me it felt like a not-so-subtle attack on the second amendment.
