Back when Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended its seventh and final season, Fox went ahead and started auctioning off lots of items, props and costumes from the show. Likewise, while it's not via EBay, costume designer Shawna Trpcic
is auctioning off her private collection of original Firefly costumes, including Mal's Browncoat and any one of Inara's many dresses -- that's right: not replicas. Bidding starts on December 1st. Hey, just in time for the holidays! Shyeah...right.Firefly auction: Own Mal's actual Browncoat

My Christmas list just expanded to two items:
1. Serenity DVD
2. Mal's Browncoat (sigh)

So does this mean Fire Fly is done for good? Thought the movie was made in an attempt at a comeback.

Hi Folks,
I'm Shawna's webmaster for the costume auction, so I thought I'd jump in with a few quick clarifications. First, the auctions *will* be done via eBay. We're just putting the site up early so that word has time to spread, and so that people can ask whatever questions they have now, so the eBay listings will be as complete as possible.
Also, to answer CaffeineAddiction's question, YES we're all hoping that Firefly comes back, either in more movies or some other form (my fantasy involves a fan-funded, direct-to-iTunes production, but that's another topic). But the movie didn't use the same coat as the TV series, so selling the original TV series coat should have no effect on that. And really, what are the odds that whomever wins the coat would say no if Joss et al asked to borrow it? :)
Happy hunting!
