According to rumor, actor and comedian Jon Benjamin (or H. Jon Benjamin, if you prefer) is notorious for turning down roles, which is why you may have never seen his face. If you're an avid viewer of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim bloc, however, you've probably heard his voice. He's currently the voice of Satan in Lucy: Daughter of the Devil and before that he voiced Coach McGuirk in one of the best TV shows ever, animated or otherwise, Home Movies. If we travel back even further in our Wayback Machine, we see he was also the voice of the son Ben in Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.
Benjamin does do live acting, but spotting him is like spotting some rare species of bird. The other night while watching a rerun of Cheap Seats on ESPN I saw him play a foley artist for professional wrestling (he mimicked the "body slam" sound by hitting himself in the head with a piece of tin). I've also seen him appear in at least one episode of Sex and the City, and he hosts the occasional Midnight Pajama Jam in New York City. For those of us who have fallen in love with Ben and his dry-as-Death-Valley sense of humor, those rare glimpses of him fill us with momentary elation. Then, alas, the moment is gone and we go back to our dull lives. It's rather poetic in its own way.

You can catch him doing quite a bit of live-action acting in the movie "Martin & Orloff" (from UCB members Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh). He has a rather significant role.

I just want to second "Martin & Orloff". Benjamin especially is hilarious in it.
And between this post, the one about Late World with Zach, and earlier Dane Cook skepticism, I'm glad to know the writers at TV Squad have excellent taste in comedy.

I seriously loved him on Dr. Katz (why oh why doesn't anyone re-run this? I loved that show, headache-inducing Squiggle-vision and all) and have always been glad to catch him doing the occasional role on Aqua Teen Hunger Force or on one of the few occasions where I've watched Home Movies (great cast, but I just never got into it). Lucy, Daughter of the Devil was kinda fun, but predictable. Hopefully it'll make it into being a series because with some better plots it could really be excellent.
