I was flipping around the other day (I do that a lot... that's why my Netflix queue hasn't budged since October), and I noticed a familiar face at the end of an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It was none other than D.L. Hughley, playing the role of Keith, a comedian friend of Will's. I didn't see the entire episode, but it seems like Will accompanies Keith to a comedy audition for moral support and ends up on a comedy showcase himself. A tired plot, but a good chance for America to see D.L.'s unique brand of stand-up comedy. According to D.L.'s IMDb listing, this 1993 guest shot was his second TV appearance, after an HBO special. I almost didn't recognize him at first, because he didn't have the nutty hair he has now, but the birthmark on his face gave him away. If someone can give me more details on this episode, please comment below.

Will ends up insulting Keith about how easy it is to be "funny" and then obviously bombs during his act.
Keith saves Will by poking fun at his attempt at stand up comedy and eventually moves on to his own act. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda, they stay friends and Uncle Phil yells at Will at some point in the episode :)

"...D.L.'s unique brand of stand-up comedy..." What's so unique? He does the same bit as every other black comedian. He does white and black people comparisons. And that's it. Is he really a star?
