If you're more than just a casual fan of nature documentaries, you should recognize the name David Attenborough. The acclaimed documentary filmmaker and narrator has been making nature films since 1950 and recently announced his (sort of) retirement. He worked as a manager and director for the BBC in the late sixties, but grew tired of it and returned to nature documentaries. One of his most recent successes was The Blue Planet mini-series which aired in 2001. He's named primate specialist Charlotte Uhlenbroek as a possible successor.
