Following last night's big episode, ABC launched the official Lost online fanclub today. The press release says that the website will feature exclusive cast interviews, photos, news and games. I visited the website and so far it's pretty unimpressive. It's just a bunch of Lost merchandise, although I would like to get my hands on the Oceanic Airlines coffee mug. By the way, the description for the mug says that "Oceanic Airlines has now ceased operations." That's the first I've ever heard of that. Is there something to that statement or is it just an oversight on the part of the person who wrote the product description? There is also a fan club Survivor's Package that is pretty lame but is being pimped by the company that runs the fan club. For $27.85, you can get a t-shirt with a picture of Locke and Kate, a DVD with highlights from a fan convention, an Oceanic Airlines bag and boarding pass, trading cards, photos, a MISSING poster for Charlie (why?), and two bumper stickers: Driveshaft and Lost and Loving It. OK, the Driveshaft bumper sticker is cool. It also includes access to a fan club message board on Yahoo!

On http://www.oceanic-airlines.com/ it says:
We regret to announce that Oceanic Airlines has ceased all operations effective immediately.
Michael Orteig, President of Oceanic Airlines, released this statement: "After 25 years of service, we are forced to close our doors. Due to financial difficulties in the wake of the Flight 815 tragedy, we are no longer able to sustain service. We are deeply sorry that we can no longer serve our loyal customers, and apologize for any inconvenience our decision will cause."
Passengers of Oceanic Airlines are encouraged to contact their travel agent or one of Oceanic's airline partners to make alternate travel arrangements.

I found this a while back and I though I was nuts, but now it makes sense.

It reads:
I survived a horrific plane crash and am stranded on an island somewhere Northeast of Australia and Southwest of Hawaii. In the event that I am never found, please forward word of my fate to my parents.
