So CNN has dumped NewsNight anchor Aaron Brown. Of course, the details are still murky, so we're not sure if CNN got rid of him completely or if they just wanted to take him off the regular NewsNight gig and give it to rising star Anderson Cooper. Did they ask him to leave the network or did Brown leave on his own accord because he didn't see a place for himself at the new outlet?
So tell us: which one do you like more?

Well they both score points for being former ABC World News Now anchors (the best overnight news show ever!), but I think I would have to go with Anderson Cooper. He seems to have a little more flavor and depth than Aaron Brown.

I prefered Aaron Brown. I don't know why the couldn't just keep everything the way it was. It worked out so well. I loved Anderson Cooper before Aaron Brown, it was a nice good two hour session. When Cooper was on Brown's show for a week or more after Katrina, it was neat to see them together and they worked well, so it seemed.
The rumor was that they wanted to put 360 during Newsnight's time slot. Brown got mad and left. They want to make 360 more of a Fox News style show so they can compete against the liars. So it's time for more lame ass graphics and even lamer stories. What the world needs is a news channel that doesn't fold to appeal to people.

Aaron Brown has been too touchy feely for my tastes. Anderon Cooper is a better newsman, but I see him tunring into a self impotant showman like Geraldo in a few years.

Aaron Brown, period. Anderson Cooper is a self-promoting pseudojournalist. CNN will continue to lose ratings to the Fox "News" Channel.

It is my hope that Aaron Brown returns to ABC as the new anchor for the Nightly News.

i thought aaron brown's show was great, one of the few intelligent news shows left. i think it is a shame that cnn has taken off a show that discussed relevant issues in depth. aaron brown's also show also tended to focus less than most of the other news shows on the sensational crime stories that seem to be all the rage. i actually like anderson cooper and have no problem with his show 360. i think cnn felt americans were just too dumb to get mr. brown and decided anderson cooper would be more user-friendly, more of a news as entertainment type. in my opinion, this move by cnn is yet one more example of mainstream media's continued descent into mediocrity and sensationalism over integrity, fact-gathering and analysis.

I really loved Aaron Brown on CNN, but would probably prefer him on another newscast. They weren't using his talents to the best advantage on CNN.

Next thing you know, Lou Dobbs will be off the air. Granted, he's not as good as Aaron Brown, but he's better than Anderson Cooper.
And as much as I hate to admit it, I like the show Tucker Carlson has on MSNBC. It's the only show of it's kind that I find remotely interesting. Too bad MSNBC gave it an awful time slot.

CNN, as a whole, is way too biased. Give me Fox News anyday.

If Anderson Cooper can bring his unique brand of inaccurate hysterics, honed to perfection during Hurrican Katrina, to NewsNight, I think they can look forward to continued great ratings.

Wow. To think that someone above me thinks CNN is more biased than Fox News.
Anyways, i choose Anderson. I liked Aaron, and I was pretty shocked that they let him go. He was a great anchor and I liked his style. I think they messed up by cutting him entirely, they should have come up with a new show for him.
However, I think Anderson is one of the best anchors, if not the best, in media as a whole. Only second to Jon Stewart. But seriously, his style is great and I'm glad CNN is giving him the shot to expand.

Because we only know what CNN is telling the public (RE: Their decision to replace Aaron Brown with Anderson Cooper), we only want to say that our first impression of Aaron Brown was "grass roots". When we first watched him in the am hours (on ABC) we were impressed that he would co-anchor with his shirt sleeves rolled-up, and without a necktie. We liked that immensely since he projected the image of an independent newscaster not buying in to the "status quo". As for CNN...they've been sliding down a slippery slope for sometime now in our estimation. Here's a suggestion...have other CNN reporters roll-up their sleeves too, report the news (without the window dressing and glitz) and suggest Larry King reconsider his choice of suspenders. BTW - I was living in Miami, FL years ago when Mr King made a hasty exit from that region.
If we can no longer see Aaron Brown we certainly hope Lou Dobbs remains for a long long time. He's a Champion for most American's values and mindsets, and we salute him proudly for the service he provides to his viewers.

Aaron Brown is wonderful, he is genuine. He doesn't buy into the scare tactic reporting style that is typical of the 24 hour news casters mode these days.

CNN under the (lack of) leadership of Jon Klein and seemingly Mr. Walton is becoming a joke. They have forgotten what got them where they are - news. They are trying to be what everyone else is and have lost their unique identity. Whats next.... a reality show about these two morons who have killed Ted Turners life work.

Aaron Brown to me was the best newsman since Walter Cronkite; I loved his down to earthness and his lack of hysteria..as another poster said, he rolled up his sleeves and talked to the audience like we had a brain; his NewsNight was the only news show I ever taped when I couldn't see it and really looked forward to; the Whip was wonderful and the Rooster was the perfect night cap.
CNN to me is no longer what it was; the departure of Aaron Brown sealed it's fate with me. I hope Aaron turns up as the new anchor of ABC evening news. He will have a loyal viewer in me; I take intelligence and professional maturity over hoopla and hysterics any day.
Mr. Brown you will be sorely missed and I hope you grace the airwaves again soon. The news world greatly needs your intelligence, wit and professionalism.

Yeah, Brad, what exactly are the "lies" of Fox News? Please identify the last one. Of course we know the lies at CBS--Rather's forged docs regarding Bush's Guard service. Those memos that Rather, today, insists are "fake but accurate." Let see, CNN acknowledged that it KNOWINGLY failed to report Saddam's decades of torture and killing his people--just so they wouldnt have the CNN Bagdad bureau closed.
Honesty from CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, NYT WaPo et al. now THERE is the real lie.

I loved both Aaron Brown and Anderson Cooper's shows and taped them both when working at night. I hate to see Aaron Brown go....he was terrific...enjoyed his style and those next day newspapers with the "little chime" for Chicago weather...was his own special imprint....his warmth, intelligence and down to earth common sense was refreshing....
Enjoy Brown and Anderson working together. Hope Aaron stays in broadcasting....I'll be watching whereever he goes.
Still will watch Anderson Cooper....just hope CNN doesn't overexpose him....it could happen....
