Things are not looking good for the long-running CBS comedy Yes, Dear. CBS just passed on the back nine episodes for the 2005-06 season. The show will stop production after filming its 13th episode this year and there is no guarantee that it will be back next year. CBS isn't officially canceling the show but this is the same thing that happened to Becker in 2003-04. CBS didn't order a full season that year and then it dropped Becker before its seventh season. Yes, Dear is in its sixth season and so far this fall it is averaging 7.6 million viewers a night.[Via The Futon Critic]

You'd think CBS would try a little forced synergy by pointing out that "Yes Dear" was ceated by Greg Garcia, genius behind another network's current hit "My Name Is Earl".
Of course, "Yes Dear" was kind of like his minor league play before he hit the big leagues with "Earl"... and he's no longer actively working on "Dear", dedicting his efforts to his new baby... and last season, they expected to get cancelled, so they wrote a potential series finale that flip-flopped the relationships between the two families, which they have spent much of the new season trying to undo (kinda like Earl trying to undo all his mistakes... Now THAT'S irony.)

Eh, call me crazy, but I liked the show, and even went to a few tapings. I think it's problem is that it's almost "forgettable"-- it doesn't stick with you like the other classic sitcoms.

This was the Rasputin of sitcoms. Just when you think it was gone for good, it came back to life again. It should have died two years ago. Listen, folks, if you miss this show, there's always King of Queens, According to Jim, or Still Standing. All three are virtually the same shows as Yes, Dear (Although King of Queens is actually funny).

I think "Yes,Dear" is hilarious.... HOWEVER, this season is really bad. Not all episodes, but the "premiere" was pathetic (with Jimmy throwing Greg, Kim AND the kids out onto the streets, HOMELESS (after MOOCHING off of them for 4 years)). The next few weeks were much better, but tonight (11/9/05) was TOTALLY HIDEOUS!!! The stupid song that kept playing was more than I could stand. I could hardly get through it the 1st time.... but they played it FOUR TIMES!!! Did they lose one or two of their best writers??? They must have lost someone (OR someone lost their mind)!! After tonight, it really needs to improve or I won't be tuning in anymore (aside from the reruns from previous seasons).
