Okay, I haven't watched professional wrestling since I was in grade school, when all the storylines were based on the Cold War and all-American Hulk Hogan battled the evil forces of the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff. However, at least four different blogs have pointed out something interesting that the WWE is doing, which is continuing the drama of Monday Night Raw online during commercial breaks. Of course, the advertisers aren't too happy that producers are imploring viewers to walk away from the TV during commercials, but whatever. I think this is a great idea, and it would be even better if they were doing it with a show I actually watched.

If the advertisers are so worried about losing profits, why don't they just take out ads on the WWE website?

There are no advertisers upset about what WWE is doing. The author of this piece just assumed that they are. But they do not exist, because none of the advertisers have realized what WWE is doing yet. That is what happens when bloggers write about something they have no understanding of.

CCK, a quote from the article:
"It devalues the position of the existing advertisers in the program, particularly since wrestling sells itself as having engaged fans," said Tim Spengler, director of national broadcast for Initiative. "Now you're talking about telling the most rabid of fans to switch to another platform when advertisers are wanting to talk to them. It sets a dangerous precedent.

Yes, one guy who works for a special interest group that wants more advertising doesn't like it. Shocking. But NO ACTUAL ADVERTISERS ON RAW have complained yet. Not that they won't. They just haven't yet.
