Is the TV poker fad going away? Ratings for almost all of the poker shows are down: The Travel Channel's World Poker Tour, ESPN's World Series of Poker, E!'s Hollywood Poker Night, the syndicated Ultimate Poker Challenge, CNBC's Heads Up Poker (CNBC has a poker show??), and GSN's Poker Royale are all down.
The only show that's up? Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown, but that's probably because we love it when celebrities play like idiots.
GSN nonetheless has a new show in the works, High Stakes Poker, where players will play cash games...with their own money.

Greetings:
I was very interested to read your article today regarding GSN producing a high-stakes poker cash game for television.
I just thought you should know that there is already a cash game on television, started by Joker Gaming, LLC and co-produced by The Poker Channel in the UK. It's called the "LA Poker Scene" and is an edited version of an actual LIVE poker cash game that is streamed to the Internet Monday through Friday, 6:00pm-9:00pm (PST) entitled "Live at the Bike!" We steam a real cash game - live from the floor of the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, the poker capital of the world.
Interestingly enough, almost all of the same individuals slated to be in this new series on GSN have already appeared on our show - several times. I think you will see a big difference in our show compared to theirs in that we have had hundreds of viewing hours already archived so our commentators are the best in the world, telling it like it is and giving players a chance to learn by watching other regular, everyday players play poker.
You can view the edited version on The Poker Channel on Sky Cable Network or catch us on the web daily at www.liveatthebike.com.
