My entire theories behind Lost change each episode. This time The Others are on my mind again.
Last night we learned there is a second bunker on the island. There are likely more than just two. I think it's a good bet the doorway they couldn't open in the Swan bunker is a passage to the other bunkers on the island.
Could The Others be the original bunker experiment inhabitants? Have they all gone all coocoo for Cocoa Puffs? Was Ethan from one of the other bunkers? Kelvin (appearing next week, thanks IMDB), who we know was from the Swan bunker and pulled Desmond into it, certainly looks like the bearded "Other" who demanded they hand over Walt. (No theories why on that one yet.)
But didn't Desmond say that Kelvin died? Are we somehow back on a dead
theme? The show creators said the survivors aren't dead, but he never
said the Others weren't dead, now did he? Not sure I buy it but it
makes sense in some odd 'I want to believe' mindset. Where is Desmond
now anyway? If the Others are killing the survivors, will Des fair any
better? They've killed a lot, from 23 (numbers alert!) to a mere
handful.

If there is something on the island that's reanimating the dead, Jack's father could have...er, risen to the occasion too.
Now, it's not to say that the "dead" are STILL dead. What if there's the thing on the island that "fixes" the problems with the dead, or fixes the problems with people (like Locke, or even Sarah's legs).
I think the problem is going to end up being that the side effect of whatever is doing it.
....Or not. :-)

"Kelvin (appearing next week, thanks IMDB)"
Gee, thanks for the spoiler. I'm sorry, but if it's not in the preview clip or in the TV Guide description of the episode and you had to look it up online, then it's got to be considered spoiler material. Try to be more careful next time or at least hide that info in the "Continue reading..." part of the article.

How can you expect a speculation thread not to include spoilers? Seriously?

Kelvin may not be dead so much as the others are something like the folks in Charlton Heston's The Omega Man. that vaccine may fight off whatever makes one become an Other.
i don't know. Pure speculation at this point.

I don't know about the guy, but the woman is almost definitely the same actress.

IMDB actually has Kelvin and the bearded man listed as both being played by the same guy. Seems to not even be speculation, but fact at this point. Def a spoiler, but an intriguing one.

Just to throw in my two cents:
I rewatched the pilot tonight and something struck me...the transmission they pick up, the one that had been broadcasting for 16 years and was in French, was spoken by Rousseau, right? Rousseau was the first to enter the title "The Others" into the survivors' island vocabulary, right?
Well, going back, the line that Shannon translated that struck me the hardest was:
"The Others are all dead."
Is it possible that the truth about the others has been under our noses since the pilot, and that "The Others" are, as clich?s it sounds, zombies?

I'm pretty sure Rousseau was referring the others in her science research team, remember how they all died?

How do I subscribe to the Lost podcast via RSS? I don't see a link to the feed anywhere, just the individual files.

That's what I'm saying...
"The Others" are the science research team.
They are dead. They are now zombies.
The screen shots of the same actors in the orientation video playing the others pretty much proves it.

Kelvin is the bearded leader of the Others (formerly Hanso researchers). He is a victim of an experiement gone wrong, "the incident" which caused "the sickness", which has left them, to some degree, undead -- which is the sickness that Desmond vaccinates himself against -- which is sickness also took the lives of Danielle's group. Somehow, Danielle's child provided some sort of life-giving force for them. And now the Others have kidnapped Walt for that task.

I have NO past-episode info to back this up, I'm just blindly guessing 8^)
The 'Others' are aliens that took over the island back when the experiement first started, because it's remote and there's less chance they'd be caught by the rest of human kind.
Do they take over humans that have died, so they can 'live' in their bodies? Does the glow drug help them avoid their bodies rejecting being inside humand bodies?
Do they need something from kids to make that glow drug? How old was Rousseau's kid, because it makes me wonder why they took Walt instead of Claire's baby. Maybe it's something to do with puberty, depending on the age that Rousseau's boy died at?
