The general consensus among those that have watched How I Met Your Mother is that Neil Patrick Harris' character Barney steals the show. While I think that there is much more to the show then just him, I also can't imagine it without him, he's the most refreshingly shallow and mischievous character since Asst. DA Dan Fielding. On the show Barney's mentioned his blog a couple of times, so for those that just can't get enough Barney, you can read his weekly musings here. With features such as "Barney's Guide to licking National Monuments" and a Venn diagram on just how much Ted's party sucked, it's a crack up. I'd love to see CBS (and all networks really) do more interactive type stuff with their shows. How I Met Your Mother and Barney's Blog

I agree, character blogs are fantastic way to get a bit more interactive. NBC's Crossing Jordan and it's character Nigel has his own blog as well: http://www.nigelblog.com/

When will the folks creating these mock 'blogs' start adding syndication feeds? The Mackenzie Watch (Commander in Chief blog) and Nigel's both suffer from the same problem.

Not without precident.
The new Doctor Who has a bunch of websites* that were featured in the show that can be accessed online. Chiefly the conspiracy website devoted to the Doctor himself at:
www.whoisdoctorwho.co.uk
It was being updated weekly during this season/series run, and it will probably be updated again next year with the new episodes.
I like this trend. Reminds me of that computer spy game that the game company sent faxes and emails to you in order to keep you involved in the game world even when you were at work.
*The really funny/pathetic thing was the controversy over UNIT. UNIT (the United Nations Intelligence Task Force) has been a staple of classic Doctor Who since 1970. Its a fictional military organization charged with defending the planet from alien invasion...and obviously the basis for "the Initiative" that was later featured in Buffy. The funny thing is that this fictional organization was probably the most positive thing shown on television concerning the United Nations (and showing it as being effective) since its inception. Anyways, the UN "finally" found out about UNIT and apparently protested with the BBC and demanded that the "United Nations" portion of the name never be used again so that Joe Blow will never again confuse the United Nations with having an effective crack military organization that can actually get stuff done. That's in stark contrast to the real organization that allows its aid programs to be corrupted by tyrants and tolerated as long as the staffers get decent payoffs, including the Secretary General's son. Good show there, UN!
