Saturday Night Live starts off its 31st season on October 1, as some of you know. The players aren't the only things that are new... SNL will be shown, for the first time, in High Definition! Even though this'll make everything look a lot cleaner, I have a feeling it's also going to result in a lot more "Wow, (insert actor/actress name) looks terrible" comments because HD tends to bring out a lot of those "slight physical imperfections". The rushed between-scenes make-up probably won't do the actors any favors. The season premiere is hosted by Steve Carell (whoo!) and the musical guest is Kanye West (does this rule out making "George Bush hates black people" jokes in the first "Weekend Update"?). Other guests and musicians for this coming month include Jon Heder aka Napoleon Dynamite, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lance Armstrong (whoa), Franz Ferdinand, and Sheryl Crow.

I could not be less impressed with SNL in HD. How much MORE and even clearer sucking will we be able to take?

Well, I just thought I would post this, as I know the truth about this, actually talking to Lorne about this one...... The reason SNL was not in HD before is because the sets are done up quickly using fake wood and supplies, as they only have a week to create the sets and plan the entire show. People would be able to see the imperfections, such as the 20 second makeup done to the characters as stated, and it would take too much time to use real wood and proper sets.
