We open on what might be the most disconcerting shot of the entire series - Mal sitting buck naked on a rock in the middle of nowhere.
We then flashback to what we're told is 72 hours earlier where he meets up with another smuggler to pick up some cargo. His friend is now married and Mal is extremely surprised to see who his wife is. It's Safron from "Our Mrs. Reynolds" and the two quickly have each other at gunpoint. She's going by Bridget now and she and Mal wind up fighting. He tells his friend about his previous dealings with her. This causes him to leave her stranded with Mal.
She tries seducing him again but he's not having any of it this time. She starts talking, though, about some high-paying job that she had lined up and now wants Mal to help her with. Back on the ship Inara wants to talk to Mal, which he finds a little suspicious. She thinks he is avoiding worlds where she could find clients on purpose. She challenges him to take serious work, and he takes the challenge. So it's down to the cargo hold where he opens the box where he stashed Safron.
In the dining area she explains her plan is to steal the original laser pistol ever created, which is owned by a high-class collector. The rest of the crew is justafiably suspicious of Safron's presence on the ship much less her plan. Because they're going to a central planet River and Simon are confined to their room where she hints that she knows of Jayne's betrayal of them on Ariel.
The plan kicks in with Safron and Mal posing as a flower delivery team at a party being thrown by the mark. Kaylee and Wash have come up with a way to get the gun out via the trash, which is automatically disposed of and which won't set off any alarms. The first pair get into the apartment while Kaylee starts reprogramming the disposal droids. When the gun's owner shows up we find that he is - surprise - Safron's husband. She puts on quite the performance since he thinks she was kidnapped years ago and he knows her as Yolanda.
Mal successfully gets the old gun from its display case and turns around to find Safron pointing a real gun at him. Her old husband interupts them and she reveals her deception to both of them. Meanwhile Kaylee finally gets the garbage unit set with the drop-off coordinates. Back in the apartment the collector has called the Feds. She knocks him out and she and Mal take off, but now without needing to blow past some security personel while doing it.
They get back to the shuttle and after acting like she's getting all confessional Safron gets the drop on Mal. She tells him to strip naked since she's going to leave him in the middle of nowhere. She then goes through the dumpster looking for the gun, which Inara is holding above her. She closes the dumpster, locking Safron in the dumpster. See, this was all part of the plan since the crew was counting on Safron betraying them.
In the ship's infirmary Jayne is getting patched up by Simon, who lets him know about his selling them out before. He promises that Jayne will always be safe when he's a patient. Then we're back where the show opened, with Mal naked on a rock. Inara meets up with him and they get on Serenity, with Mal still naked and making the rest of the crew uncomfortable.
