What's going on at The Late Show With David Letterman? Last night's episode (with guests Charlie Sheen and Interstate) was the show that was supposed to be on tonight! And it's not just that they moved up the guests to another night or switched the guests around, this was the Friday show (you could tell because it had all the Friday night staples, like Week in Review and Wiill It Float?). It was taped, and Dave even signed off by mentioning the weekend and who was on Monday's show.
Anyone know what's going on and who's on tonight? Will it be the guests who were supposed to be on last night (Ted Turner, The Neville Brothers, and The Meters)? And if so, why the switch?

they did this last week too for some reason. I had my TiVo set to record it b/c weezer was the musical guest. It turns out that I missed the performance b/c the Friday show was shown on Thursday. I went over to the weezer site and it mentioned that Friday's show was being moved to Thursday. I was a little upset because that is as close as I get to seeing weezer in concert.

I know they tape both the Thursday and Friday show on Thursday but I have no idea why they would flip the order of the shows.

The Friday show has been taped on Monday after the Monday show for several weeks. Last Friday's show was switched to Thursday in order that they could include the information regarding the Katrina relief efforts (this is according to the Wahoo Gazette). I don't know why this weeks was switched but the answer maybe in todays Wahoo Gazette.

Could it be staffers are going to LA for Emmys and they only taped one show?

Indeed. According to Friday's Wahoo Gazette:
So there we go, but it's still annoying.

Ted was great. We should start a campaign. Ted for President! Our country needs someone who believes in Peace instead of War. The man has some fantastic ideas for stopping terrorism. (such as using our tax dollars to correct the wrongs and aid the world - instead of dropping bombs). Maybe Americans would vote for him instead of a politician. He also has the money to fund a campaign.
