Big Brother 6: America to Nerd Herd: We don't like you

big brother 6 final fourAh, the final four. Notice in the picture to the right who is on the top of the little pyramid formation of the final four: the Sovereign One, Janelle, the only remaining HouseGuest (imho) who deserves to win.

Let's look at the evidence...
Janelle has won every America's Choice (of the ones that were catered for non-evicted HouseGuests), and the one that she didn't qualify for was won by one of her strongest allies, Kaysar. I haven't seen her openly lie to anyone in the game. She's honest, and brutally so, and this is why the dim-witted nerd herd misjudges her as a bad-hearted person: because she calls them out on all their little hypocrisies to which they are largely blind. I think last night's episode really clarified things for everyone watching this show, and I think when the Jury house sees the tape from this weeks episode, little lightbulbs may just go off over the heads of every evicted member of the "Friendship" as they see how completely un-sportsmanship-like and whining their team comes off as. My wife, who had sort of been leaning towards wanting Maggie to win, changed her mind last night when Janelle won America's Choice yet again and we received a lot of footage of Maggie, Ivette, and April sitting around complaining about it, complaining about America, and trying to convince themselves they were good people. If they were good people, they wouldn't be sitting around vilifying others all day long, as they were doing with Janelle, and whenever they did criticize, they would at least have the fortitude to be honest about it to themselves as well as to others. I loved the scene where April proclaimed that she had never said that she hated anyone in the game, only to have the wonderful BB6 producers, directors, and editors follow that comment up with a montage of multiple times where she vehemently proclaimed how she hated x, y, and z in the game.

There was also a wonderful segment where Ivette and Janelle talked about how they both wanted kids, and Janelle's confessional was rather honest, saying that she enjoyed the conversation but that she didn't consider Ivette a friend, while Ivette's confessional was more like she had just discovered that she has the same taste in clothing as Hitler. She was completely dumb-founded to find that this "evil" HouseGuest also wanted kids like she did. This is the main flaw of the entire Nerd Herd: they made very extreme judgments on everyone else in the house, very caricaturist judgments that never hold up in reality. The stereo-type of bitchy Barbie doll doesn't really hold true of Janelle (it probably doesn't hold true of any real person in the real world) and you could see Ivette's total lack of the ability to process that discrepancy between reality and the version of reality she had constructed in her head.

Janelle also did a masterful move of trying to turn the nerd herd against one another by only asking April to talk to her pre-nominations and putting up Maggie and Ivette. Now, whoever April evicts will most likely thing that April had betrayed the moral code of the Friendship by striking a deal with Janelle to evict that person. Of course, there's always the chance of a veto putting April up on the block and saving one of the others. I really would like to see April gone from the game, as I hate hearing her talk and complain and whine week after week. However, I think her verses Janelle at the end will be Janelle's chance to win at the end.

So anyway, the flip side of the Nerd Herd's grousing about losing America's Choice was that Janelle got to leave the house and visit the set of Two and a Half Men, where some of the old people in the audience said "We love you, Janey!" She relayed this info to the Nerd Herd who all rolled their eyes in disbelief at America.

Veto ceremony and eviction are coming up on Tuesday. I hope Janelle can secure HoH for a 3rd time and ensure her place in the final two. Otherwise she's most likely gone. Now that we're this late in the game, it is rather clear to me that neither of these teams were particularly strong. The nerd herd won out because of their numbers and the large number of mistakes that the other team made (beginning with Kaysar showing his hand when he nominated Eric and Maggie). The biggest mistake of the game: Howie targetting James and Sarah when he should have been focused on trimming down the Nerd Herd. Second biggest mistake: Kaysar letting go of that button. If these two mistakes had been avoided, the final game would now be James verses the Sovereign and a more worthy set of opponents. But as is, the jury house is again numbered to favor the Friendship. How do you guys think this is all going to play out?
