Since I grew up watching GI Joe, I felt it was my duty to watch the brand new Joe cartoon on FOX, GI Joe: Sigma Six. In the series opener, Cobra returns with a massive headquarters hidden on the North Pole, re-igniting the feud between Destro and the men and women of GI Joe (Sigma Six). One of the first things I noticed was that the animation was quite different than that of the original. This time around the show has a more "anime" feel to it, which is actually perfect for the massive dogfight scenes and kinetic action that pretty much make up the entire half hour. In typical "action cartoon" fashion, most of the dialogue spoken is just a way of helping to explain the obvious, "If that rocket explodes while you're in it, you'll die!" My only complaint about the show is that the new style of animation feels a bit too "anime" at times, to the point where I expected Chim Chim from Speed Racer to suddenly appear. Oh wait, I do have one other minor complaint: No PSA at the end of the show. I was really hoping Duke would walk in on a bunch of kids trying to stop lawn mower blades with their tongues or something so he could tell them why that's unhealthy. Knowing is half the battle, after all. I'm not entirely sure what the other half is, though.

But do the Cobra pilots always manage to bail out of their destroyed aircraft in this version? I mean honestly, no wonder Joe couldn't ever completely defeat Cobra, nobody freaking died!

I'm pretty sure that shooting is the other half of the battle.

It looks "too anime" because it IS anime - the whole show is animated in Japan by the uber-studio GONZO.
That pic is of Scarlett at the top not the Baroness. She is the girlfriend of the guy all dressed in black called Snake-Eyes.
I loved the original but watching it today is very hard. The first episode of Sigma 6 was easy to grasp and very action-packed.
I do not care how geeky this post sounds.
