Tonight the audience picked the encore and the choice came down to Marty and J.D.. J.D. wins the encore but first Dave Navarro asks the five rockers to sing with INXS on their new song "Us." This episode includes a bit more of the behind the scenes stuff as Mig, Suzie and Jordis confess to having a serious case of nervousness. First up in the bottom three is Jordis who sings "Need You Tonight." She just seems so uncomfortable lately. Suzie is next up singing "Never Tear Us Apart" and she really seems into it. Surprisingly J.D., who was chosen for the encore (why is Mig the golden boy, I wonder), ends up being the final member of the bottom three and gets to sing "Mystify." He may be a bit of a jackass but he is so good with their classic songs. Which is no wonder why they ask him what he can bring to the band to take them in a new direction (his answer, about taking them into his heart is more emotional than strategic). Jordis gets eliminated which makes sense. She's a gorgeous singer but it's been clear for a few weeks that she's not right to front INXS and she seems to be comfortable with that, knowing that this has been a great forum for her to showcase her talent.Rock Star: INXS: Elimination Night #9

I'm sooooo glad Jordis is finally gone; she is so wrong for INXS - I really don't know how she survived this long.
J.D. is the BEST choice for the band; he's sexy, charismatic, has a great voice (especially for the back catalog) and his original song is something that would probably be a HUGE hit for INXS
Marty is a dork - plain and simple. Nobody wants to go see "dorky, dark, composer guy" perform the fun, sexy INXS music - the man has absolutely NO sex appeal whatsoever. Hell, Ty had more, and he's a bit feminine for my taste.

Nancy, if you read the boards at Television Without Pity, there are quite a few women who dig Marty...

Unsurprising that people have such diverse opinions I guess. JD can sing some of the older INXS songs but he is mostly bluster and posturing. I watch this show each week with a bunch of friends and we roll around on the floor puking at everything JD says and does. The funny thing is that he thinks he is cool. He is all veneer. You scratch the surface and you find more surface. I sense that INXS think he is a jerk of a person but they do concede that he can rock sometimes. Marty is not a dork Nancy. He is genuine. JD is a cardboard cutout of a person. Maybe you like that kind of thing.

JD is a bad elvis impersonator with good looks. Some women might dig that but he has butchered a few good songs with his arrengements.
Marty knows the deal , he can write decent tracks work in group and make a record done, i wonder who would stand JD in a recording studio (he hasn`t Axls talent as we have seen).
That being said, he is the closest thing to Michael Hutchance who was a lot into posturing and flirting on stage, the problem is while he seemed genuine in JD and his win-on-all-cost mood seems fake.
Suzie is the best singer there, she has sooo much talent performing and such a great voice... but she is a girl so she might be next.
No clue on Mig, if the theory that he is signed already turns out to be wrong i'll wonder how did he make it soo long (he just doesn't seem charismatic at all)

I totally agree with you MikeDLA, JD knows what to say (except he made a mistake by saying the 'bring you into my heart' crap - INXS wanted to hear a real answer). It seemed the right time for Jordis to leave as yes, she was starting to realize this wasn't her gig. I love her voice, but I was secretly wanted her to get cut, and I'm glad they let her go this long to help showcase her talent. Mig is the next to go, he's just too much of a stage act. It'll come down to Marty, Suzie, and JD. I can't wait for cocky JD to go - he might rock here and there, but I haven't heard much variety in his voice the last handful of episodes.

Hmm ... I wonder why Mig is always the golden boy and never makes it to the bottom three. Maybe because he has a whole continent voting for him. I'm sure the Aussies are just voting for him no matter what. Last week his performance wasn't that great, yet he still was in the top three.
I'm glad that Jordis is finally off. She has a great voice, but she's just not right for INXS. Hopefully she can use this to springboard into something else. She definitely needs all the experience she can get.

I'm glad Jordis was eliminated. She hasn't seemed into it lately. Can't stand J.D. even if he is good looking. He's into himself enough for everyone. I still love Marty and hope he wins. Nancy may think Marty's a dork but I think he's incredibly sexy and I love when he bends back and sings. I loved the song, Tree's, he wrote. He's the best.

Wow some of these comments are surprising to me. But I agree if J.D.'s head was any bigger it'd explode. He always wants things done HIS way. Look how many times he changed around a real classic song. Ick.
I feel Jordis backed off some the last few weeks. But she really wasn't right for the band anyway. I noticed no one has mentioned MIG. I think he has more of what they need, energy, not bad looking, and he doesn't try to "steal" the show. Susie just has too many ups and downs.

i don't know, marty still has that "inside, i'm a demon" look in his eyes everytime he sings. even when he tries to sing a nice, feel-good ballad. it's kinda creepy. as for jd. i hate that guy. seriously, who actually thought that his rendition of "come as you are" was good? everytime i see him, it's like he's doing a strange imitation of what a rock star should be.

Lets see... on Tuesday's show, while singing is Sh***y Vegas song, he flipped off the audience. After JD sang his song he threw down the mike stand and kicked over the stool. He's got some problems. When asked what he would do for the band, he had no real answer. He's too busy trying to win their approval to realize that he really has nothing to offer them but his anger control problems and ability to take good songs and make them suck. (Come As You Are really sucked... why even bother rocking out for the last 10 seconds? Should have rocked out much much earlier) Who is dumber than JD? Well, his fans for one. They managed to help him steal the encore from Marty but not save him from the bottom three.
Mig - he's from Australia. He's a nice guy. I doubt that they already signed him. His song about his dead friend was very lacking in depth. The lyrics were painfully obvious and did nothing for me. Why not just write "You are dead, and you're not coming back, and now I've got to move on?" - oh wait, he basically did that... Stupid. Think of how many good songs are already written with that theme and how many of those are so basic? None.... (i.e. "in the arms of an angel", "Under the Bridge"... etc)
Suzie - I doubt she goes all the way but I bet she makes it to the end because they don't want to seem sexist. Yeah, they are open minded about a female vocalist - but who knows.
Marty - yeah, he sometimes seems freaky - but he's got one thing going for him that nobody else has: He's been selling himself to INXS with a good angle. Sure, Ty did that too - but I don't think INXS wanted to have "soul" like he wanted to give it to them. His song "Trees" was superb. Much better than JD's song - and would easily be a hit single for INXS and help them connect with today's audience. INXS wants to be relevant, and that's what Marty has been trying to show them he can make them.

JD's bluster may not be ideal for TV, but it translates to some awesome performances.
Suzie has the strongest voice amoungst the remainders -- did you catch how much she stood out -- and above -- the others vocally when they all sang "Us"?
Marty would be the one to take INXS into the future -- which could have mixed results. Marty seems to be a genuine guy and he lets it all hang out there on stage; his limited range doesn't even matter much.
MiG -- gosh, I just don't see it. Sorry. Talented guy, meant for stage or perhaps American Idol, not rock stardom, in my opinion. His ballad the other night sealed it for me -- nuh uh, no way.
Anyone but MiG could potentially work out very well. I am sort of rooting for JD, but that's more the contrarian in me than anything else (plus he's old! like me!). I'm just excited to see how it all turns out.

I think JD stinks and has such a horrible attitude I can't see why they would pick him. He is not mature enough for a band like Insx.
Susie has a great voice for Country, but it not also not for Insx.
Mig thinks he will win just cause he is from the same country as the band. He sings okay but like JD they look like they are trying to impress Insx and not anyone else
Marty has a lot of emmotion in his songs and has a great band here in the suburbs. They been together for 21 years. The Lovehammers is really good if u listen to them. I loved the song Trees which he song for my granddaughters 16th B-Day Party. He also went to school with my kids. Just keep showing them what u can do and we are all very proud of u in the suburbs.

It's true that JD looks the part for INXS but god he is soooooo wrong in so many ways. He has the wrong attitude, he is way to agressive and over the top with the B.S with his mantra(yuk!!) this guy needs to give a straight answer and give up the crap he keeps coming out with. The stage performance are just so far over the top, they make my cringe. However his voice lends itself to the older INXS tracks and his style is very much in line with who INXS used to be and thats the point, they are moving forward not back to the days of Michael, if that was the case they'd just release old stuff. I think if he wins he will only be there for a short ride, he does'nt seem to be a person who will stay with INXS, he in it for the quick rise to fame.
Marty and Mig however are both, in there own way very right for the band. Over the weeks it has shown how much these guys have grown, changed and developed their skills. It would be great to see Marty win as I feel he has the edge and the talent to front INXS. He has constantly proved himself each week and has horned his singing and writing skills to what is required and asked of him. He and Mig have both proven that they are capable of writing great songs( TREES being far better then that drippy song of migs) and going into session ready and prepared(unlike JD who even now in the last days tunrs up to a clinic with Andrew unprepared!!!)
Its going to be very interesting to see who is chosen and how the others take it.
