In case you didn't know already, the makers of Arrested Development are freakin' geniuses.
Because guest star Henry Winkler has his own show this fall (CBS' Out of Practice), they needed to hire someone new to replace him as the Bluth's attorney. And who do they get? Scott Baio, who played Chachi on Winkler's old show Happy Days!
Imagine: a TV show that's not only smart and funny but also one that understands TV history and does something about it. Cool.

Real geniuses, indeed! First, they hire Oscar winner Charlize Theron as the mysterious love interest of Jason Bateman's Michael Bluth. And now, they get TV icon Scott Baio to be the new Bluth family attorney after Henry Winkler departs. Charlize for the guys and Chachi for the girls!! A truly brilliant strategy!!!
I hopefully presume that we viewers will be seeing much more of good old Chachi in future episodes of the series. After all, Winkler as inept lawyer Barry Zuckercorn made several appearances in the show. Lord knows that the unpredictable Bluths shall definitely be needing expert legal help on more than one single occasion.
I eagerly look forward to watching Scott interact hilariously with Jason, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walters, Portia de Rossi and the rest of the wackily gifted cast of "Arrested Development".
Really, other current sitcoms ought to have thought of hiring Baio as a guest-star a long time ago.
For instance, "Malcolm In The Middle" would have greatly benefited from a one-time historic encounter between Scott and young Frankie Muniz (who resembles Baio in a lot of ways). A pity that the series producers never considered such a pairing. The poor fools!!!
Thank you, Ron Howard and "Arrested Development". You've done a good thing in bringing Charles-in-Charge back to us.
P.S. Hey, Will Arnett! That's Oscar nominee Pat Morita to you, magician-boy!!
