This is one of those special times during the year when sports and television make the best mix. Just look at what sports television choices we're going to have during the next few weeks:
- Baseball pennant races heating up right now
- U.S. Open tennis tournament began this week
- College football starts this weekend
- The NFL's regular season starts next weekend
- The NHL returns with exhibition games on their new network (OLN)
- The NBA exhibition season will start by the end of September
I think it's safe to say that our collective remote controls will be in high gear over the next few weeks. Make sure you have plenty of batteries!
Although this may sound a bit strange, I'll be interested to see what kind of attention the return of the NHL on TV will garner in a few weeks. Granted, it's exhibition season, but I'll be curious to see how the coverage is on OLN and whether fans will be tuning in any kind of numbers.
