The Family Guy episode titled "The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire," which was re-aired recently, has caught flak from some AIDS groups for a little barber shop ditty performed by Peter for the benefit of a dying AIDS patient. Using song, Peter tells the man, quite frankly, that he has AIDS and is definitely going to die. Seen in context, the joke is that Peter is having a flashback about his impeccable knack for breaking bad news to people. Nevertheless, AIDS groups aren't amused. Groups angry at Family Guy AIDS song

So stating the obvious is a bad thing. I guess in today's day, it is. But I thought it was a funny bit, especially doing it in those outfits.

I just saw this episode recently and laughed my ass off! At least what's left of it.(Lipodystrophy sucks) As a person living with AIDS, I wasn't offended in the least. People need to grow a skin and stop taking everything so literally! And these groups need to realize that they don't speak for everyone!

The problem is the special interest groups play the press to get free publicity for their cause.
The press is always more than willing to do it.
Formula: Say you represent a few thousand people, pick a target, then rant for several minutes on your cause to a news reporter.
The press eats it up.

I'd love to be there when they do break the news to you to see if you still feel that way.
40 million people is not a "special interest group"
