Brooke Burke makes everyone beg for the encore before Dave finally bestows it on Suzie. Tonight's episode is an hour instead of a half hour so there's lots of filler including plenty of time for J.D. to showboat for INXS. Last night the bottom three were Deanna, Ty and Jordis and everyone except Suzie spent some time in the bottom three. Her relief is absolutely adorable. Ty is the first up to sing and he sings "What You Need." He does a great job and talks about his destiny as the new lead singer for INXS saying he doesn't need to talk about it a lot because he knows it (quick camera shot to a smirking J.D.). Deanna takes on "Elegantly Wasted" and it seems like both she and INXS know it is her swansong before she even gets started. Marty gets tagged as the final member of the bottom three and sings "Don't Change." I think Marty's hot and has a great rock star look but he doesn't seem to have the voice for this song. Luckily, INXS elects to send Deanna home. She's a good singer but she really wasn't right for the band. Of course she looks so heartbroken that I find myself crying right along with Ty, Mig and Suzie. Rock Star: INXS: Elimination #7

you think marty's hot? i have the opposite feeling. he's kind of strange looking (i don't know if it's the hair, or the fact that sometimes it looks like he has no eyebrows), and then when he sings, he gets this demonic look to him, like i'm expecting his eyes to turn firey red, and his voice to drop 5 octaves, as he shouts "I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE!!!" plus, he was kind of pitchy.
i think what bothers me with the bottom 3 show, where they sing INXS songs, is that everyone is so damn serious. a song like "don't change" is a pretty upbeat rock/pop song, and if you've ever seen INXS perform it live, you'd know that. when marty sang it, he made it so shout-y and hard. i think if people had fun with the songs, INXS would see that they really enjoy performing the songs and could work with the band, and aren't just there to be the best performer in a reality show.

The weirdest thing about the flow of this show is that in order to hear how well somebody's voice matches up to the INXS style, they have to be identified as one of the worst three singers. Therefore the winner ultimately will have had the least amount of time to show how they can sing INXS songs, the least amount of critique from the band, audience approval, and so on.
I think I do like Marty over Mig, even though Marty scares the bejesus out of me. When he screams it's not like he's just trying to put a little angst into the song, he's got a far-off look in his eyes like he's reliving some childhood trauma. I want to hear him do "Down with the Sickness" or some other really messed up song.
