Angel, the last vestige of the empire spawned by a certain failed Kristy Swanson vehicle from a decade back, has been off the air for almost a year and a half, and fans have been clamoring for some kind of revisitation of the Buffyverse ever since. Well, clamor no more – Tim Minear has confirmed that he's been hired to write and direct a TV movie for the WB. Though few details are available at this point, the film will follow Spike, the bleached-blonde reformed bad-boy vamp who terrorised Buffy, then loved her, then died, then came back so he could show up on Angel after the vampire detective agency merged with evil law firm Wolfram and Hart (it's all very complicated). James Marsters will reprise the role of Spike, but there's no word on whether or not he'll get any visits from any "special friends". It seems unlikely that the WB will be able to corral the big guns, as Sarah Michelle Gellar refused to pop up on Angel in its final season, and David Boreanaz has visibly aged just a little too much to play an eternal stud. But I think Wesley is available ...Spike: The Movie

I'll never understand why people are so loyal to Buffy.
Not the show, the character.
She whined the entire time, "oh why did you bring me back? I was in heaven, I don't have any friends, I'm all alone" Cry me a river.
Buffy was the weakest characters Joss ever came up with.
I liked the show, I liked Angel, I loved Firefly, but the character Buffy, well, sucked...really bad.
I am however looking forward to a Spike movie, I hope it doesn't get screwed up.

If this is actually true, and really going to happen....I'm THRILLED!!!
I've been saying that I would even watch a "Clem & Andrew" spin-off...just to have any part of the BtVS/Angel-verse back. LOL
I have no problem standing up for Buffy/SMG. I think the show was great, I think she is a wonderful actress who's career I will continue to follow, and I think SMG personally is probably a very sweet and nifty gal.
WHY?!?!?! people insist on blaming her for being a bad character is beyond me. It was a script people!!! She acted what she was given to portray. And did a damn good job of it if you ask me!
Also, SMG did NOT refuse to be involved with the "Angel" finale. The timing of it all simply did not work out.
As for future appearances, I've read that she would be willing, depending on the situation and how it worked with her schedule.
I have no "Hate", for any of the verse characters, or the people who portrayed them. Even characters that I couldn't stand, served some sort of purpose that gave the show it's greatness.

I never said anything about SMG, I said I hated the character.
Saying that the character is bad is the same as saying that the writing for that character was bad.
Listen to what I say, not what you think I said.
However, for the record, I think SMG sucks too.
And it's not because of the writing, unless you are going to blame EVEY ROLL SHE'S EVER HAD on the writing too.
She is a Soap opera actrice, and she should have stayed there.

P.S.
she couldn’t act like she was on fire if I doused her gasoline and threw a lit match at her.

I have no interest in a Spike movie.I feel that character has been done to death.Would much rather see a character headline it who has not been as overused.
As for SMG,she was supposed to do the 100th episode of Angel but had to back out due to a family members death.Joss then wanted her for episode 20 or 21 but she was in Tokyo filming The Grudge so they came up with TGIQ. She offered to do the last episode of Angel since she would be able to then but Joss turned her down since he had the finale already planned and TGIQ already shot.
She has said that she has concerns about doing a Buffy theatrical movie but if she got a great script that made things work in the 2 hour timeframe, she would be open to it.

Ummm, gee, I don't believe I addressed you personally PhantomProphet.
And even if I had, maybe if you took your own advice, you would have realized I was talking about both SMG AND the character "Buffy".
I won't argue with you over any of this, you are entitled to your opinion, and I was simply expressing mine.
Oh yeah, and it's just my opinion, but with a "p.s." like that....you might consider some anger therapy.

A clarification to this story: Tim Minear has not yet been "hired"--he says he was ASKED by Joss Whedon if he wanted to write and direct a Spike-centered movie.

SPIKE!?!?! he is old and basically dead so why try and make a re-do life movie about HIM.
I say, since Eliza Dushku isn't working on anything. Do the film about FAITH.
just my opinion.

I personally would love to see a film based on Spike and Lorne - The series left a perfect segue for their reunion and story. The Lorne character was always one of the most interesting on the series, at least he was for me.
SPIKE & LORNE, yea team.

if they can't get James Marsters back as Spike i don't think it would very good at all. I mean where else are they going to find a man those cheek bones and such... i may catch if i remember when comes on but if i don't i sure am not going to cry about it. i loved Spike's role but i don't think it would be good with anyone other than James Marsters

Oh, and Dave, even though Wes is dead, when you think about it, it appears you must be dead to lead a TV show in teh Buffy/Angel-verse

Yes Angel movie starring Spike would be awesome!!! Anything to bring closure is what they should be doing. You should not give people a great series and get them all excited and then never bring any closure when they feel like ending it. Personally I think Angel or and Buffy could have had more season by far. But anything at this point would be cool!!

I am excited about the Spike movie and all but I would much rather have a movie about Willow and Tara. Those two were and always will be the best characters. Not only that but the actresses are super nice in person. Joss should have done what he wanted to and made that episode where Buffy had one wish which she said she got a pair of shoes with but Willow asked her if she was serious as she was laying on the bed, but when she looked up there was Tara. That would have been the best.
