So what new fall shows are getting early buzz? According to this Hollywood Reporter article (via Mediaweek), the top buzzworthy shows are The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, Prison Break, Supernatural, Invasion, and Freddie (followed by shows that have gotten a thumbs down from TV critics and media agencies, including Threshold, Surface, Kitchen Confidential, Bones, and The Ghost Whisperer).
And how do they measure "buzz?" A company called Trendum monitors online discussions about TV, movies, and celebs that happen on message boards, forums, communities, and web sites. Maybe even this one. Hello!
But is that really an accurate way to measure this elusive thing called "buzz?" Couldn't it all be just hype from fans or the industry itself? What new shows will you be watching?

Supernatural sounds kind of interesting. I just finished reading a review about it today (http://www.allyourtv.com/0506season/firstlooksupernatural.html, if anyone care), and it's definately on my "to-do" list for the Fall.
On the other hand, Freddie sounds kind of idiotic.

I saw a quite a few pilots, and the only two I'm really excited about is Prison Break and Everybody Hates Chris. I hope 'Out of Practice' (with its stellar cast) steps it up a notch. No Lost/24/Alias/DH in the bunch in my opinion.

I have also watched few pilots and yeah, as much as I like David Boraeanz, the Angel guy, his show sucks "Bones" and yea Prison Break is definately worth watching.
Dear Lord Ghost Whisperer was pure trash, but hey! at least I got to see the Prison Break guy there.
Supernatural It's really cool, but it seemed to be like another Smallville Episode, really cool done, pretty special effects and all.
Invasion is just another Lost rip off. It basically the same premise. There is a place where weird things happen, but this time is in MI, SOOO BORING. I love lost though

I had an opportunity to go to a luncheon where they showed a bunch of clips from all of the networks for the upcoming TV season, and the one that got the biggest positive crowd response was "Everyone Hates Chris". I've been an avid "Alias" viewer for a number of years, but I'm going to tape one or the other (they both come on Thursday at 8 EST). "Everyone Hates Chris" looks VERY funny.
The other quirky one that I'm planning to check out is "My Name Is Earl". It looks odd enough that it just might work.

Hmm... My thoughts? I had a hard time getting through Prison Break. It really wasn't engaging to me at all. Same for Invasion, I found the pilot really really uneven and by the time the meat of the story came in, I didn't really even care. Bones. Well. It's not worth even bothering to think up a comment for. It sucked.
Now, I didn't hate all the pilots I watched.
Supernatural, in my opinion, has the potential to become a good x-files lite anthology show if it's done right (the sub-plot involving the father DEFINITELY has potential to add to the show, if they don't screw it up). And frankly, though i'm loath to admit that a tv show that's a remake of a tv show is worth anything at all, the Night Stalker pilot was quite good, at least from a visual perspective. Now, just recast it since those actors aren't even good enough to be extras, and tell the writers to try writing dialogue that isn't written specifically so that it will be understood by people who didn't make it past 3rd grade. OK, so it's not great, but frankly, this years batch of pilots (from the 6-7 I've watched) are mostly crap, so I'll boost for the "it didn't make me cry out in agony" shows.
