What's the worst possible ending?
1. Nate didn't die... it's just a dream
2. The funeral home blows up killing everyone
3. This is all a dream sequence of the father who is in a comma and who wakes up.

People actually watch this show?!? I tried really hard to get into it, honestly, Arli$$ was more entertaining. Considering how many awards it's won, why did it have such a short run-time?

How many people thought the baby was stillborn when the tombstone popped up? Took me a second to realize that they didn't have an "end date."

I think all the fishers will die in a fire, earthquake, etc.

did you catch Billy's tshirt: what would jesus bomb? Amazing how much the war in Iraq is integrated into the last couple of episodes.
other great one liners... "Ruth, it's not the 50s no matter how you dress"

I suppose that they fade to white on births as well as deaths.

I'm at minute 49 and everything is going a little too well... everyone is being honest and upfront with each other. People want to be there for each other... things are going way to well.
This is NOT very Six Feet Under...

Disappointing ending to the series. I was hoping/expecting something much more tragic to happen!

Ending was beautiful, I couldn't get up for five minutes afterwards. When you think about it, ending it any other way would have been a crime, but still, kudos to Mr. Ball

Wow... what a powerful ending. Seeing all the principle character's lives sped up and ending back to back all the way to Clair's death in 2085. I guess nothing is left to wonder about, and technically the door is open for the show to come back at some point and show the other periods of the actor's lives--not that I would expect that to happen.

I found the last 10 minutes a little maudlin and manipulative. I'm sure it looked better on paper than in actuality. Nonetheless, it didn't ruin a great ending to a great show. I was a sobbing mass of state hospital grade jello when Claire pulled away. If I had been directing I would have ended there. But Alan Ball didn't call me :)

they could have done without the epilogue--although I did like Brenda keeling over while Billy rambled on, like she said "GOD take me NOW, PLEASE!!!"

It was a great ending I loved all the hidden scenes during the flash forwards. I listed all of them at my blog if you saw anymore tell me.
The gay foster kid was the best.

I thought the ending was well written and have always enjoyed the dialouge on the show. It was a bit tender but the final treatment was truly in keeping with the overall theme. Finally a program that "wraps things up" what a change. Beats Jerry and the Gang in Jail.......Rest In Peace Nate.

Let me just clear up a little, what I want is to know if their were more hidden things I know Alan Ball loves to put things with double meanings.
Great episode.
J. SCOTT is dead on with his comment.

Why no death scene for George? Or the foster kids? Or Maya? Or Willa? I thought they'd do one for every character.

Because they're all peripheral characters, I'd guess. Billy didn't have a death either.

There was never a show that made me feel so much and feel so intensely!! BRILLIANT ending to a Brilliant 5 years! The only sure thing about life is death and Six Feet faced it head on. The best all time ending to a series! It will be hard to beat! Cheers to them all!!!!!!!!

If any of those deaths that happened on the last episode had been the opening 'death of the week' during a regular episode, I would have thought "meh, that's boring". How come none of the regulars rated a really interesting death? How come Ruth didn't have a stroke alone at home, surrounded by licking barking wagging doggies? (my preferred way to go, BTW) How come Claire didn't fall to her death trying to photograph something from a spectacular angle, or enjoy a lethal amount of some new drug? How come David, finally fearless, didn't get offed by a hitchhiker?
