Awhile back I linked to a story about news outlets focusing their coverage of missing persons almost exclusively on young, white, female persons, ignoring the fact that the majority of people who still remain missing today are minorities. The most recent case involving Natalee Holloway has roused more complaints about bias, and it looks like Dateline NBC will be covering that topic for tonight's episode, with a strong focus on Tamika Huston, a black woman who went missing last year and whose mother fought an uphill battle to get national coverage from the major networks. Dateline to cover missing persons bias

Dont forget that during the time of Elizabeth Smart, I barely remember a story a girl who was slightly younger than smart i believe not only went missing but managed to chew through the duct tape that held her down and escape from her captors. Only difference besides the lack of coverage was that she was black...
i agree that there is very much so a bias in television journalism, and cannot see any movement for change, hopefully if other mediums of journalism i.e. online, radio, print, and magazine, continue to spotline such cases and make a large enough uproar over the bias then hopefully television news orginazations will make a push for change.

I think people needs to back off of Natalee Holloway,She has the rights to be found and to go home where she belong's.If it was your daughter you would do every thing in your power to find her,Just like Twitty. I hope they find her soon to give her family peace, and so they can move forward in life.Yes it is sad to here of any person missing...But sometime's things like that can never be sloved...Good luck to all the Holloway family may god be with you.
