CSI: Temperate Zone

One thing that bugs me most about CSI, despite being a rabid fan, is that for Las Vegas they seem to have an awful lot of rain, trees and cold for a extreme desert climate so close to Death Valley. Every other episode it seems they are in the middle of a thunderstorm, flood or someone is wearing a parka. What's up with that? Last night Catherine was wearing a down parka, gloves and ski hat! Where do you think you are, Tahoe?

Now, as a Vegas regular, I know the locals are a bunch of whining pansies if it gets cooler than 75 degrees, which it can easily slip to the 50's in the winter. I've actually seen valets wear light coats and gloves in the frigid 60 degree spring weather.  But CSI seems to forget that the arid rocky region of  thesouthern Nevada desert is not often full of  deciduous forests  (Joshua Tree national forest is full of... yup, Joshua Trees, a kind of a lovechild hybrid pinapple/cactus/palm tree).

Does it rain? Sure. Does it rain as often as it does on the show would lead you to believe? No.
