Sure, he has a ratings hold on FOX, but now American Idol host Simon Cowell has his sights on ABC too. He's teaming up with Peter Jones and FremantleMedia (they co-produce Idol) to create a new show titled Million Dollar Idea. The show will hold nationwide auditions to find the next great businessperson or inventor. As ABC's Andrea Wong puts it:
"Somebody out there has thought of the next Post-It Note or Starbucks, but they don't have the means to actually make it happen."
After we see all the auditions, the nine finalists will each get $50,000 to get their product going. The winner will get $1 million and their product in stores.
Maybe I should enter my idea. Could anyone use fur-lined covers for their popsicles? Yeah, it sounds crazy, but they said that about Edison too.

"fur-lined covers for their popsicles"
Now there's a euphemism if I ever saw one

With all the crappy reality shows coming out like Brat Camp, this actually seems like a pretty good idea. I hope they make it interactive with audience voting similar to American Idol.

Not the most orgiginal idea in the world. The same show has been out in Minneapolis for a couple of years.
