One of the things I hate (and love at the same time, but hate more) are all of the E! True Hollywood Story type stories that come out about my favorite shows and stars. Sure, I can find it interesting about who was having sex with who during a show's run, or what a beloved star was really like, or how a cast really hated each other behind the scenes. But it also makes me feel bad, as if a little piece of the pop culture history that made me who I am is being taken away. There are some things I just don't really want to know about. It's a TV show (or a movie or a novel), and I think it should speak for itself as an entertainment.
Having said that, this blog from April Winchell, daughter of Paul Winchell (who died this week), is rather interesting. She's an actress and voiceover artist too. I guess Mr. Winchell had a lot of problems, relationship/abuse/drug problems, and that he was estranged from his kids. She's brutally honest in her depiction of what life was like with her father ("it was dark, frightening, and very, very sad"), why their mother left, why she thinks his autobiography released recently was so "cruel."
