I'm waiting for this show to find its groove but tonight's episode just didn't seem to gel. Tommy just doesn't make becoming a designer seem like a desirable thing and therefore his teams don't seem to have a lot of hunger. As much as Trump's displays of extravagance can wear on a person at least he makes his lifestyle look worthy of envy. Hilfiger seems to be stressing the difficulty of his life rather than the joy of creativity. The two teams were assigned to trick out a pair of Lincoln Navigators for rapper Fabolous. Chris and Jeff and Vlada and Princess are assigned to meet with Fabolous. Princess feels this is her chance to shine and makes eyes at Fabolous. She seems to be planning the car more for herself than for the rapper, choosing python and fur. The other team goes for a more subdued approach and Chris keeps Jeff and his monster ego in check. Meanwhile, Little Tommy and Shauna head to the Golden Globe Awards to do interviews on the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight. While Shauna acts like a journalist, Little Tommy, dressed like a frothy matador, gads around in a giddy haze unaware of who Sheryl Crow is. This part of the show detracted from the immediacy of the challenge and seemed a little out of place.
The Navigators are revealed and the Orange Team goes over-the-top gaudy while the Blue Team goes for a more understated but still flashy version of bling. At the Style Forum, Little Tommy gets in trouble with Big Tommy for not knowing the names of the celebs. Fabolus weighs in on the cars and chooses the Blue Team. Fabolus says that he felt Princess was too aggressive and took the car too far into the blingy rapper territory. Tommy mildly castigates Princess and Vlada but decides Vlada showed no initiative and sends the international temptress home. Vlada doesn't seem too heartbroken to head home which is one more sign that this show just doesn't have any passion behind it.

I think tonights episode was better than last week's episode; but there is no doubt The Cut couldn't hold a candle to The Apprentice. I didn't understand the whole idea behind sending one person from each team to cover that award show. It seemed like there was the challenge of creating the "pimped-out" Lincoln Navigator, but then they go off on a tangent to cover the People's Choice. What was the point? And like one of the contestants mentioned, could the people who covered the awards show be used as a scapegoat? How can you possibly judge one person's performance compared to the rest of the team when they are doing a completely different assignment?
The show is a mess and I have a feeling it won't be getting any better. There is no fire behind the contestants, they're all frilly wannabe designers, who can't create any decent drama.

When I saw the previews for The Cut with Tommy Hilfiger, I thought I would be watching people design daywear, evening attire, kids clothes - you know fashion. Silly me.
All this has turned out to be so far is a pale comparison to The Apprentice. At this point I am more impressed with the sense of style of the folks on the Apprentice than the ones on The Cut.
I am not convinced that someone that is talented in clothing design can translate that talent into billboards, automobile design, restaurant rennovation and whatever else they have in the upcoming weeks.
Looks like they need to find someone who is good at designing a reality program on style and design.

I had to agree. Tommy was totally out of place and these people want to be designers for Tommy Hilfiger yet they are pimping rides? I do enjoy the show though, I enjoy all reality shows. I think I like to see the way people react to each other.
