Wow, okay, you guys are going to kill me, but I totally forgot about last night's American Idol conclusion. I woke up this morning and wondered vaguely aloud to myself, "wait a sec...what did I forget to do last night?" And sure enough, it's right on the front page of the news: "Carrie Underwood Wins 'Idol' Contest." Wow. So, yeah, I so did not see this coming. I mean, we had a 50-50 chance of guessing it correctly, right? So I'm not exactly to blame...really. Not me.Anyhoo, Yahoo! News reports that Cindy Monteleone of Chicago thinks Carrie has a star quality Bo Bice doesn't. And they point out that she's a "polite, quiet, small-town girl who is dedicated to music." Which is cool, but come on, she's no Ashlee Simpson—she'll never sing about having sex on the kitchen floor. She'll sing a few top-the-chart pop songs, sell her first album to the millions of American Idol fans, and then what? Will celebrity change her? Will she lose that "small-town girl" quality, try to rock it, or stick to country? I'm running 12 to 1 odds on this one, folks, so put your two cents in before the betting booth closes.

ummm okay, thank you Cindy Monteleone of Chicago for defining "star quality" for the nation. I was rooting for Bo, but I don't think it makes much difference who won in the end. I make my choices according to the question "which singer's CD would I actually buy?" Although she's a talented singer, I wouldn't buy a Carrie Underwood CD because I can't stomach country music (which these days might mark me as unpatriotic, but I'll live with it). On the other hand, I just might plunk down $15 for a Bo CD and blast it out of my speakers. Let's see who's still around a year from now.

Well thank goodness Carrie is no Ashlee Simpson (or Brittany or Hillary) because Carrie actually can sing. Too bad she's stuck with that awful song to be her first single. I think with time, experience and training she'll come into her full talent. I thought her best song of the season was Heart's "Alone" -- she should mix it up with songs like that, and a little country -- she could probably do songs like early Linda Ronstadt. She seemed genuinely thrilled to be doing that duet with Rascal Flatts -- you could hear a pin drop while they were singing -- it sounded very nice. Meanwhile Bo will keep rocking on -- anyway he practically got a promise from Clive Davis to do an album. I thought last nights show was decent -- i liked seeing the other idols again -- some of whom were my favorites. Anyway -- what does everyone else think???

Honestly I stopped watching after Kelly Clarkson won those other two winners, the big guy and scary woman, may have sold many albums but they aren't stars. I won't bother trying to remember this newest one's name. If she does have staying power I'll hear it in her follow-up singles. I'm betting that this winner because she is so red-state friendly like Kelly than she'll get the best lyrics and the best chance in pop/country crossover.
Don't underestimate her skank factor if she isn't happy with the pace of her career she will whip 'em out and then blame bad advice just to stay hot.

Congratulations to Carrie, although I though Bo (and Vonzell for that matter) were worthy of the title.
The music last night didn't thrill me at all. Carrie and the guy from Rascall Flatts were good individually, but they didn't harmonize well (and boy has he gotten FAT.)
That crap with Constantine, Jessica and Nadia was awful. Was surprised with how good Nikko and Scott were, tho. Mikala and her thigh grabbing was tacky and I didn't like the song. Couldn't hear Vonzell since my toddler decided at that time to wake up and have a small fit. Bo was good with Sweet Home Alabama, but saw that one coming from a mile away.
This was the first season I have watched American Idol. Will probably watch again except for the finale. Most likely will wait for the blog to tell me. That show was mediocre at best.

Well I honestly think she was better than Bo and deserved to win...GO CARRIE! she has a great voice and she is very pretty so..I'm sure she'll get a good name for herself..
Yes and thank god she don't sing like Britney or Hillary ..this girl can sing.. those girls have too much back ground music that totaly drowns out their voice! and I seen that dumb Britney special Qaotic and she tried to sing a little song.. and sounded horrible with out all her back ground music and don't look so hot without all her makeup! ...Carrie is more on a level with Beyonce' and Christina Aguilara a ginuine good singer! Go Carrie, I'll buy your CD!

Congratulations to Carrie, but Bo was more deserving. Simon is the one that actually won it for Carrie by his continuous comments that she had already won. Vonzelle should have been in the finals over Carrier. I would certainly pay to see Bo in concert or buy his CD over Carrie - she's too limited - good singer, but not an entertainer or performer - Bo on the other had is a complete packaged entertaining performer.

I was soooooo sad that Bo lost. Even though he is not a loser, he totally deserved to win. While Carrie sings great, she is so limited and is very, very dull. I don't think the poor thing can say anything in an interview except, "awesome, awesome." Oh, well. Bo is so fabulous, I can't wait to hear what is to come from him. I know he will be more popular over time. I'm a BO fan forever~
I also liked Constantine and who knows why they put Nadia and Jessica with him last night in a group. They looked like cheap street walkers. Mikala is just disgusting. She cannot sing at all--never could and never will. Unfortunately, she will probably end up being famous b/c she is so obnoxious.

I liked Vonzell the best. Imo, she has the most personality, or infectious star quality. Bo has an authenticity that is appealing. Carrie is the least interesting of the three. Of course, she'd win. :)

I am probably one of the very few who thought Carrie wasn't a good vocalist and definitely not a performer. Having said that, she is lovely to look at and has a serenity and light about her that is very appealing. Bo deserved to win because he has it all, in my book. Vonzell was my second choice. She sings...really sings...has a great stage presence and personality. She makes me feel happy. Sorry Carrie, fans, she doesn't even get my vote over Nadia either. But, she will be an attractive person to watch.

You're all nuts. It was a given that the top two will get exactly the same record deal. The only difference will be the jet pass and that doesn't say much since no. 2 will be able to own the jet soon. They can both sing and hate to break it to ya, southern rock is just a half step out of pure country music. "Can't stomach country" probably hasn't listened to country music since 1975. Keith Urban is so pop-flavored, I can't stand him. And people, the guy from Rascal Flatts has ALWAYS been fat, even when he bared his butt in a video. Eeew. But that being said, the most marketable person won, the least marketable (but most talented) person came in a close second and Vonzell is going to be a superstar, wait and see.

Thank God Carrie is no Ashlee, Britney, Christisna or Hilary. She DOES NOT need to be them. I had have enough those singers who only know to use sex to sell their music. Carrie is the breath of the fresh air. She is a talented singer and she definitely will have a successful music. The one she should look up to is Celine Dion. The girl is the best singer among the all contemporary young female singers. I hope celebrity status won't change her and she certainly need some counselling on dealing with fame and pressue. She's going to shine.

BO WAS ROBBED!!!!!!Bo has a presence & flavor. Carrie is just another cute blonde who won't be around for long. Bo won the competition flat out. America stop listening to Simon!!!!I believe Bo will be around a long time. Carrie is just another flash in the pan. She has an ok voice but, no style or presence. She has one style of singing, Bo on the other hand can sing more than rock. I will definitely buy Bo's cd's. I am a rap/r&b listener but Bo appealed to me.

BO ROCKS!! He was my choice for Idol because he has it all. I will definitely buy his CD and can't wait for it to come out. Carrie does have a beautiful voice and hopefully, over time she will develope her other talents. If only you could combine Carrie's voice and Vonzell's (I really enjoyed watching her) personality and stage presence, that would be awesome!! But even then, BO BICE still ROCKS!!

Clive Davis has already said he would sign Bo to a record deal.
I'd say that's the better "prize."
Carrie's win, while disappointing (she really isn't all that talented), didn't surprise me. Red state Amerika rallied in the end and put the princess over the top.

Now I know how Clay lost; because over 1/2 of America is deaf. Carrie has a beautiful voice. Bo's voice is good but limited; I don't remember hearing any high notes from him and if the song got too low I couldn't hear it either because he was struggling. I like Bo but Carrie was truly the best singer and I think that is what this is about, right? Give the girl a break; she's 21 and from a very small town so of course she's limited in conversation. She'll get there and hopefully without performing practically in the nude. I don't like country music but I do like her voice. She deserved the win. Actually I liked Anthony. He had a good voice, just not good enough. But he is a "hottie".

Personally I don't think Carrie Underwood is that talented. Whatever happened to good music? While America is caught up in reality TV (nosing into peoples personal lives), the music industry should rise above this and leave the talent discovery to the professionals.

OK, OK, let's compare: Stage presence = Bo
Versitility = Bo
Range = Bo
Question? Why didn't he win?
I stopped watching after Vonzell was eliminated. I couldn't believe it. I thought it would be Bo and Vonzell. Though Carrie has a nice voice, she's not a performer, she won't move the crowd in a concert. She should be competing in Nashville Star. I will buy Bo and Vonzell's CD, probably won't buy Carrie's. MMMM, probably won't be around for a second CD anyway.

Carrie is by far one of the most dull and lifeless singers I have seen perform in a long time! She should have sang " I feel like just standing here" instead of I feel like a woman"! Was she wearing cement boots?!?! Bo has what it takes & hopefully he will have a successful career. I hope that Carrie loosens up a little. BORING!!!
