Sleep, 8.6 hours. Work, 8 hours. Television? The rest of the time. Are we really that pitiful? According to a new government study, yes. We read about 7 to 19 minutes a day, but watch television nearly for nearly half of our free time. (Unless you're over seventy, in which case you read about 72 minutes a day. But that's probably the large-print Reader's Digest, so I'm not sure that counts.) And overall, if you never went to college, you'll likely waste 17 percent of your entire life watching the ol' Trinitron. We at TVSquad certainly do advocate television watching, but hey, it's part of our job (remember those eight hours of work?) What this means for Americans overall is that we're, quite rightly, one of the most sedentary societies in the world. Just my opinion, mind you. Hey, at least when Canadians watch television, they choose news and public programs. We fill our gullets with Extreme Makeover.
