First, to answer your question, yes that was Fred Koehler, Chip from Kate & Allie, as the legal aide trying to make sure the woman who wants to be on a hunger strike is not helped by the emergency room team. I used to think of him as the annoying extra character who was there for either comic relief but would be gone once he killed a patient or stole drugs or something. Now he's up for chief resident? Huh. It's hard to review a show like ER. I mean, what can you say if there aren't major plot developments concerning the lives of the regular characters? Pratt fixes someone's hip? Abby thinks an elderly woman is being abused? Jake's pants fall down? That all happened, but it loses something in the telling.
