That trouble with Lauren I predicted last week has happened: she's graduated from dyed hair and belly button rings to school vandalism. Atta girl Lauren. She's in the Straight Edge Club, a group of girls that don't do drugs or have sex but love tattoos and, well, vandalizing. Which just goes to show you that sometimes sex and drugs aren't the worst things that can happen to a teenager. In other Gray news, Vincent is writing again (and getting a possible book deal), but he's also still teaching at the prison, a TV show plot development that never ends well. And when did Cheech Marin get back in the picture, having the hots for Tyne Daly? I thought that they ended that whole plot about a year and a half ago (and now she's up against Susan Sullivan for his attention). I've always liked this show but it seems really up and down now, picking up and dropping plots and characters and leaving uninteresting plots and characters in their place. It's on the bubble and if it doesn't get back on track, tonight's episode title but be appropriate.

Did you seriously just indicate that vandalizing and loving tattoos is worse for a teenager than doing drugs and having sex?????!!!!???? If so, I think that you need to go over the possible long term consequences of doing drugs and having sex (disease, pregnancy, having children you are unable to support, health problems, death) and compare them with loving tattoos an vandalizing.

LOL Erika, surely you don't think that Bob was serious?? It was a tongue in cheek remark. :-)

I didn't see this episode, but as a Straight Edge (sXe) young lady with access to the internet, I found out about it from other kids in the Straight Edge community I'm a part of. A lot of 'em have expressed irritation with CBS's utilization of negative information in the commercial to draw more viewers into watching the show.
a lady yelling @ her daughter:
"are you in some gang called straight edge!?"
Straight Edge is NOT a gang. It's a commitment someone makes to themselves. That is: no sexual promiscuity, no drugs, no alcohol, & no smoking cigarettes.
Sure, it boosted ratings, & perhaps in the end, Straight Edge wasn't seen so negatively. But for every person that saw the commerical & missed the show -- well, they're walking away with the impression that being Straight Edge or affiliating ones' self with it is a negative thing. And it most certainly is not.
I speak for the sXe community with I say this: the commercial wasn't a smart move.
