Survivor Palau: Episode 9

stephenieThere's finally no choice but merger. Burnett decides to torture Stephenie a little more before the madness ends and she turns into the most popular girl in the world over at Koror.  Stephenie forages for food on her own and has never been so happy to see a tribe of dirty, petty people in her life when she finally gets the chance to go to Koror.  "It's a new chapter in my life," exclaims Stephenie as she gets to Koror, marveling on the luxury of places to sit and use the bathroom.  Jenn senses another dangerous set of abs in the mix and mutters that Stephenie must go.  Meanwhile, Crabby Coby, who seems to be so unhappy that he turns into the fly in everyone's ear, plans his own strategy to give Stephenie the real scoop on Koror.
The new tribe is taught to fish by a Palau native.  Tom and Gregg go fishing for big catch on the ocean while the rest of the tribe stays on land to catch bait fish.  When the sun sets the tribe drinks a few bottles of rum out of coconuts, throws the fish on the fire and has a real celebration.  Tom gets seriously wasted and lurches around.  The next day just about everyone on the Koror tribe clamors for Stephenie's attention.  The challenge is the stand-around on a perch challenge where everyone stands on a stool in the water and Jeff hectors the tribe offering up doughnuts which immediately causes Coby and Janu to dive in. Night falls and Jeff brings out  the cookies and milk come out the rest of the tribe ditches leaving Tom, Stephenie and Caryn are left standing.  For pizza, Stephenie and Caryn take the leap leaving Tom to win immunity.  Then it's off to tribal council.  Jenn says she's not competitive with Stephenie (too much), Janu admits she's been slacking, and Stephenie admits that she probably shouldn't have gone for the pizza.  Not that any of these things matter because when push comes to shove, Coby is out the door.  Stephenie smiles that calm smile of hers, Coby seems happy to go and Janu seems absolutely stunned.  I was thinking that perhaps Stephenie would receive some sort of special immunity for being the lone survivor of Ulong but perhaps the experience of outlasting an entire tribe is already a gift.

Next week:
Janu loses her cool, there is a feast and a challenge will leave one survivor to live alone.
