Survivor Palau: Episode 8

survivor bobby jonShould we just title this "Sinners in the hands of an angry Burnett" since it really does seem like one tribe is being punished. It's another week on drastically unbalanced Survivor. Eight against two. A tribe full of accomplishment and the standard Survivor infighting versus two defeated campers going it alone. Koror has the luxury of complaining over who is doing the most work while over at Ulong the fight to stay alive seems to keep Stephenie and Bobby Jon well-occupied. How much can two people take?

The reward challenge is to eat what are basically fermented chicken eggs that seem more chicken than egg. What's on the table? Fresh water and toiletries (hello Scope product placement). It's two against two which seems a bit unfair since the two get the reward for all eight people). Tom seems to be relishing the experience of demonstrating his stength whereas  Bobby Jon looks so gaunt that this is obviously a much-needed meal no matter how gross. The tiebreaker comes down to Tom versus Bobby Jon. In a hard fought battle once again Koror is victorious. Bobby Jon looks like he is ready to kill and I can't blame him at this point it seems like Burnett is just torturing the dwindling tribe.

Back at Koror camp the fight for showers begins. Jenn is very angry at not being able to take a shower when Tom decides to keep the fresh water for"survival"  purposes. Meanwhile at Ulong, Bobby Jon goes on a wood-chopping frenzy (somehow managing to keep his low-slung shorts on the entire time). At Koror we find out that Stephenie is in an alliance with Tom and Ian.  Bobby Jon seems to have entered the heart of darkness but at least they get to eat a fish.

It seems unfair that Koror gets to use two men during the challenge. Stephenie proves that she is tough enough to hand with the boys but once again Koror manages to win. At this point it is just painful to watch the crestfallen faces of Ulong. Bobby Jon and Stephenie are forced to duke it out in an individual immunity challenge.

Back at Koror, Coby gives his girly man testimony to kill time over at Boredom Central. The immunity challenge comes down to who can make the bigger fire the fastest. Stephenie wins and Bobby Jon gets sent home. I really wonder why they decided to do things this way this year, was it only the novelty of trying something new? Survivor has often seemed unfair from inside the game but when the unfairness is inflicted from the outside it seems egregiously cruel.

Next week:  Why is Stephenie still alone over at Ulong?
