Battlestar Galactica: Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 2

BSG 113Episode 113 – I just returned from a weekend away from the TV, besides Final Four basketball, and had to catch up on some sweet “DVR” action. The first thing I “had” to watch was the season finale of Battlestar Galactica. No other show has surprised me as much as BSG this year. I taped one episode on a lark a few months ago and now I'm hooked. And hooked good. The main reason is the excellent storytelling, phenomenal special effects and terrific character development. Now it all comes crashing to a climatic, violence filled ending. [Warning: Spoilers below]If anyone has taken longer than I have to watch this episode than I'm sorry, spoilers are everywhere. I probably shouldn't start things backwards but the last scene was just insane. It was a shock to see “Galactica” Sharon shooting Adama in the command center, but of course we knew she was a Cylon all along. It was as dramatic as anything all season, and should be for the finale. This, along with the baby of “Caprica” Sharon and Helo being the future of civilization (my best guess for the whole Number Six/Gaius opera house scene), are just a lot to wrap ones head around.

The other stuff like Starbuck rescuing Helo as a bonus to her mission was a no-brainer, but the twist with “Caprica” Sharon's pregnancy was a nice touch. Looking back through the episode, the only slow part seemed to be the crash victims on Kobol. It doesn't make much sense now and the officer vs. enlisted interaction was lost on me. But the good news is maybe it will be explained along with Adama's life or death, Caprica Sharon's baby, Starbuck returning with the arrow, a President in the brig of Galactica and Gaius' place in the universe when the show returns in July. Not a bad bunch of plotlines to resolve. Three more months. Hurry.
