Survivor: Palau: Episode 7

survivor palauI've had a hard time getting into this season and the continued inequality between Ulong and Koror doesn't make it any easier.  The whole David and Goliath thing only works if David gets a shot at some point.  The way it is currently set up it is as if we are watching two different Survivor phases.  The earlier honeymoon phase is still going on at Koror, while Ulong is in the traditional end-of-season death throes.  While this is different from other Survivor seasons, it doesn't make watching any more enjoyable.  Instead, it's a bit excruciating.
Ulong does a fair bit of fretting over the dwindling of their tribe. Over at Koror, it's fish ahoy.  First Ian snags a giant clam but just as the team settles down to feast a shark is spotted. Tom manages to catch a shark by slicing it nearly in half with a machete.  The men indulge in a little blood sport excitement.  Ian is hurt that he has been outshone by Tom.  "I guess the next step for me is to get a humpback whale and bring it in."  Tom fears that he has outed himself as a provider and Coby worries that all that tasty shark flesh will make Tom a lot harder to get rid of.   That is if they ever go to tribal council again.

This week's reward challenge was the visibility contest.  Whoever has the best SOS display visible from a plane wins.  Ulong spells their name, lights a fire and waves a little flag.  Now onto Koror with their "got food" logo and big arrow. The rich get richer and Koror wins again for placing their sign further down the beach. Gregg frets over playing the game and still "being a good date."  He gives dimpled Jenn what can only be seen as the Survivor version of "the talk" as they get water together.  Ulong finally got a meal, feasting on giant clam.  Their joy is sad considering the massive feasts that Koror is enjoying.  The immunity challenge involved a floating puzzle.  Once again, Ulong couldn't get it together.  Koror even slowed their progress to let Ulong swap their teammates around as they struggled to put pieces together. Koror wins immunity sending the dwindling Ulong back to tribal council.  The three each made a show of proving why they would be the one to go and Stephanie was clearly in charge.  With only three people, pickings are lean and there was no clear reason to eliminate anyone.  Bobby Jon chose his alliance with Stephanie and Ibrehem became the eighth person voted out.
